Welcome Message and What is a Hispanic?
Welcome Message and What is a Hispanic?
Thanks for visiting our website, please do not hesitate to send us questions we would be happy to answer them. In this “blog” or “weblog” we will be covering several topics that could be of interest to the Hispanic employers. At this time I would like to start from the very beginning, What is a Hispanic? Hispanic refers to people of any race who trace their roots to Spanish-speaking countries such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, or any country in Central or South America. The term is often interchangeable with Latino. You might find that some of your workers rather be referred to by their country of origin, such as Mexican, Salvadorian, Guatemalan, etc. Do not feel uncomfortable asking this. In fact your workers will be more than happy to answer this, because they will sense that you are showing interest in such a personal issue. However keep in mind that not all Hispanics are “Mexicans” a term that is often used to label all Hispanics. Thanks and I will keep you guys posted on other topics such as how to deal with company’s housing, training tips, supervisor’s skills, language barrier, etc.
